Successful test flight of BVOLS special Hybrid Fixed Wing VTOL FFW-040-KOPRO for Antarctic exploration for Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI) The BVOLS special Hybrid Fixed Wing VTOL for Antarctic exploration is a hybrid type of medium-sized MTOW 45kg-class VTOL using gasoline and lithium polymer batteries developed jointly by FineVT Robotics LAB of Korea and JOUAV of China.
We are in charge of products/operation/training and MRO. This test flight was conducted at sea on the Araon (polar icebreaker probe) operated by KOPRI, and the vertical take-off and landing test was successfully conducted in the East Sea. It is the first time that a vertical take-off and landing aircraft flew by a domestic civilian probe is attracting a lot of attention. The model name of the VTOL for Antarctic exploration is FFW-040-KOPRI, and it is equipped with RIEGL’s VUE-240 LiDAR, thermal imaging camera, and RGB camera, and will be used to investigate the environment and ecosystem in Antarctica.
