Pocheon City has announced its ambition to become a central hub for the mobile robotics industry.
On April 30, Pocheon City opened the Northern Gyeonggi Branch of the Seoul National University Intelligent Unmanned Mobility Research Center at the Pocheon Business Center. Together with the FineVT Robotics Lab and related institutions, the city declared its plans to promote a project aimed at activating a natural-ecology-based advanced science and technology test site.

Through this collaboration, Pocheon City has established a cooperative system for the development of technologies and the cultivation of talent related to mobile robots, or so-called “unmanned mobility systems.” Under the so-called “NEXT-P Project,” the city plans to create a national-level demonstration base that integrates natural ecosystems with advanced technology. It has proposed a three-part vision—technology development, infrastructure expansion, and talent training—and aims to grow into a hub city for next-generation unmanned mobility innovation. This initiative is expected to lay the groundwork for securing national-level research and development (R&D) and core technologies within the region.
