Pocheon City has announced its ambition to become a central hub for the mobile robotics industry.
On April 30, Pocheon City opened the Northern Gyeonggi Branch of the Seoul National University Intelligent Unmanned Mobility Research Center at the Pocheon Business Center. Together with the FineVT Robotics Lab and related institutions, the city declared its plans to promote a project aimed at activating a natural-ecology-based advanced science and technology test site.
Through this collaboration, Pocheon City has established a cooperative system for the development of technologies and the cultivation of talent related to mobile robots, or so-called “unmanned mobility systems.” Under the so-called “NEXT-P Project,” the city plans to create a national-level demonstration base that integrates natural ecosystems with advanced technology. It has proposed a three-part vision—technology development, infrastructure expansion, and talent training—and aims to grow into a hub city for next-generation unmanned mobility innovation. This initiative is expected to lay the groundwork for securing national-level research and development (R&D) and core technologies within the region.
Tanzanian aviation traffic officials visited the Goyang Drone Anchor Center(GoWings) to observe FineVT’s ATM (Air Traffic Management) system and MUM-T (Manned-Unmanned Teaming) operations.
In particular, they received a briefing on the COUNTER-UAS and K-UAM GC-1 traffic management achievements, which highlight the need for ATM/UAM systems in response to the growing threats posed by illegal aircraft and drones to navigation systems, as well as recent developments in quantum encryption platforms for navigation and communication.
Pocheon City (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 6th that it held a seminar for the next-generation advanced mobility research promotion team at the Pocheon Business Center on the 4th and signed a business agreement (MOU) with Seoul National University’s Intelligent Unmanned Vehicle Research Center and FineVT Co., Ltd.
Through this agreement, Seoul National University’s Intelligent Unmanned Vehicle Research Center agreed to cooperate in ▲establishing a domestic commercialization base for the advanced mobility industry ▲transitioning to a software (SW), advanced sensor, and artificial intelligence (AI) company ▲establishing policies ▲establishing a research institute, etc. FineVT Co., Ltd. agreed to utilize Pocheon City’s infrastructure when promoting technology research at the Korea-UK R&D and Korea-Kazakhstan R&D center and support the attraction of related companies.
At the seminar, representatives from the public, private, military, academia, and research institutes attended and presented on ▲Pocheon City’s mobility industry vision and strategy ▲Seoul National University’s Intelligent Unmanned Vehicle Research Center’s drone policy and industry trends ▲FineVT Co., Ltd.’s global technology development (R&D) cooperation strategy ▲Korea Aerospace Research Institute’s future mobility fostering strategy, etc.
Pocheon City plans to promote the next-generation advanced mobility industry and establish a drone parts domestic production complex by ▲ training and attracting software experts in the northern Gyeonggi region, ▲ attracting research institutes in the region, ▲ fostering companies and creating jobs, ▲ establishing a demonstration test system for the civilian-military manned-unmanned complex system, and ▲ promoting digital twin-based test evaluation.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun said, “With this seminar and agreement, we have laid the foundation to become the center of the advanced mobility industry,” and “We will do our best to establish a drone parts domestic production complex and commercialize future mobility technology in the future.”
Meanwhile, Seoul National University’s Intelligent Unmanned Vehicle Research Center is conducting various public research through cooperation with major domestic and international organizations and companies, such as fostering innovative talents for land, sea, and air unmanned vehicles and developing original technologies.
FineVT Co., Ltd. is a company that possesses the technology to successfully transmit 4K video in real time using a quantum encryption drone in Antarctica, and is active in various fields such as manufacturing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), counter-UAS systems, manufacturing execution systems (MES), and development of artificial intelligence (AI Vision) inspection equipment.
